A Chest for a Dauphin

When Marie Antoinette finally gave birth to a long-longed for son and heir this was one of the things that were made to commemorate the birth of another heir. The inside has been lined with soft white taffeta and the exterior is richly decorated with paintings of celebrations. Marie Antoinette's own initials are written at the centre of the box's lit. Both Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette are depicted on the lit - surrounded by cupids. The edge of the box is decorated with flowers of soft blue and green fabric.
