Sèvres: Madame de Pompadour's Bowl

Sèvres porcelain potpourri boat, c. 1760, a form owned by Madame de Pompadour who was a great supporter of Sèvres

Sèvres created this ornate pot-pourri bowl for their supporter, Madame de Pompadour. The bowl was created around 1760 and the little portrait is normally attributed to Charles-Nicolas Dodin. This particular bowl was among the most difficult to produce which means that only twelve were ever created and only ten survived.
