Is it true that the Palace of Versailles would of smelled of urine and feces when the French Royal Court was living there?
ReplyDeleteWithout sanitation the like of which we are used to, there would have been a whiff but it is probably not to the extent that we imagine. However, there were plenty other scents to rival that of human excrements such as flowers (the numbers of which should not be underestimated), orange and lemon trees, perfumes, soaps, incense etc.
