The Topographical Study

Originally, this room had the gorgeous view of Le Nôtre's small grove called Bosquet des Sources but it was removed during Louis XVI. Also, this room would lead you into Madame de Maintenon's apartment. The panelling is from 1713 and several of the paintings are just as old - one depicts an old Louis XIV in a wheelchair. Its name is derived from what Napoleon used it for: he would store his maps in here. The room is characteristic by its long emerald green curtains that match the soft green tones of the large mosaic carpet.
