Lime Love

Hélène de Fougerolles is Madame de Pompadour in the movie "Jeanne Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour" from 2006. In this movie she wears this eye-catching lime coloured satin gown. With a colour like that it is no wonder that she did not choose a different fabric for her petticoat! The bodice is embroidered with orange and yellow silky thread. The sleeves are very different from the common fashion. From underneath the standard white lace the sleeve continues in a pale green that covers most of her hand. The line between the green satin and the white lace is elegantly concealed by the use of embroidery. The same white lace has been used for the neckline and the neck ribbon. At the Marquise's left side a rosette flower has been pinned to the bodice - of course it matches the thread.
The skirt is hemmed with pleaded lime-green satin trimmed with orange thread. The same style has been applied to the bottom of the skirt right above the hem.
