Peach Welcome

John Barrymore wears this in the 1938-edition of Marie Antoinette when Marie Antoinette arrives at court to meet the young Louis Auguste. The coat and vest is made of peach-coloured silk with golden medal-patterns with a stint of turquoise - it looks almost like chrysanthemum flowers close-up which would have been an exotic addition to a French King's wardrobe. These pieces are also brocaded with bronze silk thread in an elaborate pattern. The trousers are made of a very bright yellow satin but other than that there are no other decorative elements. All the pieces in this set are labelled with John Barrymore's name on it. In the movie this set is worn with white lace sticking out from the sleeves and - of course - hanging around the neck.
