Madame du Barry had the luxury of having both access to both hot and cold water in her private bathroom. The pale yellow varnish is also the work of Martin as well as the turquoise borders. Madame du Barry had this bathroom installed in 1772. There are two rectangular areas where the stone work differs from the other tiles - this was were the bath tubs were placed originally. At the rear wall a tall white porcelain stove takes up some room; it is the only one at Versailles!
