Royal Dog Houses

Dogs were a favoured pet among the Bourbon kings and of course their dogs had to have the best doghouses. To the left are two examples of these royal pet's "houses". The doghouse that belonged to Louis XV is from 1760 and can also be used as a stool.

Marie Antoinette's cipher is engraved under a royal crown. The words: Garde Meuble de la Reine (Queen's furniture) is written on it. It is estimated that this doghouse is from 1775-80.
