A Yellow Madame

Hélène de Fougerolles wears this dress as Madame de Pompadour in "Jeanne Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour". Sadly, no detailed description of the dresses in this movie has been published, so we will have to go by what we can see. The petticoat appears to be of some sort of satin but the bodice and sleeves are of a different kind as well as brighter in colour. The fabric has a damask pattern in two shades of yellow. The brooch on her chest is fastened to what looks like black tulle which is also applied to the sleeves and the edge of the bodice.
The dress is a Robe à la Francaise and the bodice is clearly meant to be seen. It has small yellow buttons all the way from the top to the bottom. The white ribbon on her neck matches the pearls on both her wrists.
